The Perfect Steak

The summer weather has been pretty ideal these past few days. The sun is shining. The breeze is just right. And the grill is always fired up come dinner time.

Everyone has their own method of cooking “the perfect steak”. This is my own. It’s flawless. It’s flavorful. It’s a #treatyoself kind of steak.

Trim the fat if you want – but personally, I think it’s the best part.

A couple of your favorite cuts of steak – NY Strip for us

Garlic powder

Dried thyme

Olive oil

Combine salt, pepper, garlic powder and thyme (no real measurements here – add as much of each as you’d like).

Brush the steaks with olive oil and gently rub the seasoning mix into both sides.

Grill to desired doneness, making sure to let rest for at least 5 minutes after cooking.

Slice and serve with grilled vegetables, potatoes, whatever. You could even just eat it my itself.

OK but what is your tip for grilling it to desired doneness?! Like day Med/rare to medium??

Depends on your cut of steak – for a NY Strip that’s about an inch and a half thick – I’d say about 4 minutes per side (turn 90 degrees after 2 minutes, then at the 4 minute mark – flip.)
